“It always takes courage to stand in high places.”

A moving tale of growth and healing.
The theatrical adaptation of a celebrated K-novel!

The acclaimed bestseller Yuwon comes to the Myeongdong Theater in a successful stage adaptation under the same title. With its delicate narrative that reaches into the deepest corners of the heart and characters bearing the weight of complex emotions, the story is brought to life on stage through masterful adaptation and direction. The medium of theater breathes life into the teenage girl Yuwon, who willingly navigates conflict and uncertainty, embracing a life entrenched in tragedy and disaster. Instead of offering clear-cut answers, the play quietly invites us into a space for connection, inspiring the hope that we may stand alongside one another and share “the courage to stand in high places.”

With an unflinching exploration of life after tragedy and the resilience of those who rise from its depths, the production weaves a delicate synergy, leaving a quiet yet lasting impression on its audience.

SYNOPSIS

In Yuwon, the title character is an 18-year-old survivor of a tragic fire. The story delicately explores the intimate wounds and ethical dilemmas she faces in her relationships: her sister, who sacrificed her life to save Yuwon; the man who caught her as she fell from the 11th floor, suffering irreversible damage to his body and life as a result; and Soo-hyeon, a friend who unexpectedly enters her lonely world. The narrative captures Yuwon’s guilt over surviving, her sense of obligation to her family, and her conflicting feelings of self-loathing, resentment, and compassion. These complex emotions drive the precarious tension throughout the story as it unfolds.
