“Experience the Awe of the Thrilling Play”- France 3 TV

Meet the all-new Richard III, completely transcending the traditional hideous portrayal of a monstrosity. On a colorful circus-like stage stands two actors, restlessly dominating the audience as they transform themselves into a mirage of different faces. As a director, adapter, and actor, Jean Lambert-wild’s playful imagination has boldly gone beyond Shakespeare. The life-infused balloons and dolls burst with vigorous death. The audience only awaken from the endless nightmare when the crazed king leaves the swirling stage in solitude.

Adding Innovation to Stage Directions and Breaking away from “Traditional Formats” - France 3 TV

Richard III presents the world that only existed in the illusion of Richard III. By adding innovative technology to traditional techniques in the theatre of art, Richard III is a collaboration of experts from across the globe. The unique stage installations and video techniques have given life to each and every moving object on stage. This so called ‘third actor’ fills the stage as it magically blends into the theater. The aesthetics of Richard III clothed in a nuanced ceramic armor draws the audience into an illusionary trap never imagined before.

Synopsis

A clown is faced with his own reflection. A shape-shifting reflection summons a throng of versatile ghosts. Puppet-like ghosts begin to surface in front of the clown, opening a new illusionary world. Together, they aim to create their own Richard III.

Original Story by William Shakespeare

As one of the greatest English playwright, William Shakespeare is known to have written 39 plays, 154 sonnets, 4 narrative poems, and a few lyrics. Since scholars began to study his work in full-scale during the 18th century, “Shakespeare Studies” has been developed into a full-fledged independent field of study in the UK, subsequently being used as a precedent for all principles of literary criticism. Moreover, to star in one of Shakespeare’s plays has been considered a gateway to becoming an accomplished actor. Shakespeare’s work has received countless favorable comments and compliments that it is meaningless to list each and every item. Shakespeare’s work has been subject to numerous analysis and critiquing and is constantly evolving through reinterpretation into various other genres even to this day.

* Major Works

Hamlet, King Lear, Othello, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, The Taming of the Shrew, The Merchant of Venice, A Midsummer Night's Dream, etc.
