I will have my revenge.
Only then will I put an end to this.
The six different events and deaths that happened to someone’s husband; someone’s daughters. Full of pain, sorrow, and anger, someone designs a perfect vengeance, meticulously, yet secretly, planning every detail of the vengeance within the mind and even accounting for that one step in the stairway two centimeters shorter than the rest, so methodically and tenaciously. This is a cruel fantasy born of a trauma.
Until we arrive at that final moment of the vengeance,
We will follow the path of the mind.
- Director Bu Sae-rom
In this project, which was born out of curiosity about ‘Sin’ and ‘Vengeance’, director Bu Sae-rom and six actors and actresses complete a single stage while breaking up the boundary of traditional roles with their bold and experimental attempt. A grand opening that will become nightmare within nightmares, and chaotic, yet shockingly vibrant words will lead you into the mind shattered by vengeance. When you stand on that particular “step two centimeters shorter” than the rest, and you open that door of vengeance, hopefully, all will be able to come to an end.
Director Bu Sae-rom
Co-Founder of Thaeater Company Dalnara Dongbaekkot
Bu Sae-rom observes the marginalized and the overlooked in society with a warm and caring eye, communicating with the audience directly without running away from the issues. She wins the younger audience’s heart by directing works delivering strong messages and delicately describing characters. She began pursuing her career as a director in earnest when she co-founded Theater Company Dalnara Dongbaekkot with the playwright, Kim Eun-sung in 2011. While adapting the classic pieces from other countries to form a Korean version, she became an acclaimed director who found universal themes transcending time and place. After showcasing these works, she has presented her own creation on stage, receiving high praise as “reflecting social issues and consciousness of our time in all of her works. She is in the process of finding her own words presenting original plays based on reality.” Now she is firmly rooted as a pillar within the Korean theatrical scene.
