A bold observer of the era, Yoon Mi-hyun

Writers who gathered at the ‘Playwrights’ Room’, an original play development project of NTCK, focused on creating a new original play in 2016. <Here she goes with the basket again>, among the pieces which received wholehearted support from audiences and was designated the most outstanding piece, jumps out from the manuscript and rises, lively, on stage. Director Choi Yong-hoon, often referred to as ‘the father of original plays’, along with veteran actors, participate to provide the finishing touch to the play. Yoon Mi-hyun, a young playwright, is acknowledged by literary critics and audiences for dealing with modern challenges using the language of severe paradox and satire. Her new story gains life and emerges on the shining stage.

NTCK ‘Playwrights’ Room’ is a playwriting network that creates original plays by cultivating potential play ideas and drafts. It holds regular debates among next generation playwrights, offers professional mentoring, screenplay recitals, and more. <Here she goes with the basket again>, created in 2016, will be released at this year’s ‘Young Playwright Contest’. The showcasing of <Leakage Repair> and <The Voice> is planned to be at ‘The Next Generation Theatrical People Studio’ this May.

The satisfying and exhilarating revenge of the old Basket Lady

While the old lady raised her children all by herself in a tough environment - even handing down the family house - her children are anxious to discard her like the worn down sole of a shoe. So the old lady decides to make a move. The Basket Lady of this play, which follows <The Box> among the ‘Senior Series Trilogy’, is stronger than anybody else. She is even stronger than her son who binges on lousy soap operas after retirement, her daughter-in-law who worries about reality instead of him, and her granddaughter Mimi who stays stuck in her room without employment for 10 years. In a tough world where everyone has a hard time carrying on, check out the Basket Lady. Some will face a harsh reality they have never seen before, and some will gain the strength to carry on. 

Synopsis

There is an old lady who carries all kinds of food in her basket and stroller, and sells it to solitary elderlies in her neighborhood. The townspeople call her ‘The Basket Lady’. What made the old lady carry her basket on her head again?

At the Basket Lady’s birthday gathering, all of her children and daughters-in-law, who had gathered at her oldest son’s house, get into a big fight; all refusing to support their mother. The old lady decides she cannot bear their fighting and hatred. Everything is disgraceful! She finds a way to take revenge for the sorrow brought by her children. Her hands reach out only for small household items at first, but become bolder every time, while Mimi watches all of this happen...

He pursues pure drama with a serious mind and passion, and has led the theater company ‘Small Legend’ for the past 30 years. For opening up the gateway to original plays and striving for their development, he is also referred to as the ‘Father of Original Plays’.
