This winter, a mighty tempest takes Myeongdong Theater by storm!

The Tempest, Shakespeare’s final comedy hailed as his last great masterpiece, storms onto the stage at Myeongdong Theater at last.

On a stage where reality and dreams collide, where vengeance meets forgiveness, and betrayal tangles with reconciliation,

Prospera weavesher beautiful magic, perhaps unfolding from Shakespeare’s own fingertips! With a flawless script, powerful

performances, and majestic stage design, this production captivates the audience with

a theatrical tour de force of pure enchantment.

In a world where calm seas and violent waves, illusion and revelation all intertwine,

The Tempest never pauses for a moment of stillness. Shakespeare's final gift invites us to encounter true magic.

A Tempest or Prospera’s Beautiful Incantation of Love!

From the instant the magic begins, one question haunts us: does it deal out revenge or forgiveness?

The tempest conjured by Prospera engulfs betrayal and conflict, casting everyone adrift on raging seas.

Their minds and bodies becomeweary from a fierce voyage that blurs reality and dreams.

However, at the edge of the spell, wounds heal, and hatred dissolves away.

Amid the tumultuous storm, what pervades our hearts might just be the miracle of love.

As love is found at the border of dream and reality, the final moment we’ve all been waiting for unfolds here and now.

NTCK’s Original New Take on The Tempest

Artistic Director of NTCK, Park Jung-hee, takes the helm as the production’s director.

Her sharp yet tender vision combines with scenographer Yeo Shin Dong’s vivid palette and sensibility to create an unprecedented,

one-and-only version of The Tempest.

By reimagining Prospero as Prospera and Alonso as Alonsa, the production sparks fresh, unfamiliar tension throughout.

Ye Su-jung leads Prospera’s fate with warm charisma and commanding presence,

while the rest of the powerhouse cast—including Park Yoon-hee, Moon Ye-ju, and Yoon Sung-won—sweep

through the stage with formidable energy like a tempest.

Every moment is charged with emotion and rhythm, amplified by live music that breathes life into the play’s dreamlike illusions.

It is time to experience a truly unique, one-of-a-kind production of The Tempest.

Synopsis

Prospera, the Duchess of Milan, is betrayed by her brother and stripped of her power.

Cast out to sea with her daughter Miranda, she finds refuge on a deserted island, where she masters the art of magic.

Years later, she conjures a fierce tempest to shipwreck her brother and his entourage on the island, seizing her chance for revenge.

Trapped on the island, they each face their own desires, love, regrets, and despair within Prospera’s web of trials and illusions.

In the end, however, Prospera chooses forgiveness and reconciliation over vengeance,

restoring everything to its rightful place and bidding farewell to her sorcery.
